Other ongoing Raleigh Activities

  • Monthly Newletter (Sept - June)
  • Meals for Moms/Prayers for expectant moms
  • The First Friday Mass/Devotions, brown-bag breakfast and optional faith supplement classes by registration. 8am- 10 :15 am St. Joseph Catholic Church Poole Rd. in Southeast Raleigh This is every first Friday Oct-May. Only the CLASSES that begin at 9:15 am are for registered families. Mass and devotions are for all. Enrollment is currently open!  
  • Fieldtrips for varied ages are scheduled throughout the year. Want to see Monet at the Museum? How about a nature hike at the Hemlock bluffs? if it isn't already planned by someone, you are welcome to get a planning form from the Files section of our yahoo website and plan a fieldtrip for the group yourself! Our yahoo group calendar will list all the fieldtrips planned
  • Park Days - Monthly scheduled (4th Thursday) and spur of the moment. Going to the park? invite your ARCH friends to meet you there for fun!
  • Annual Parent planning meeting -  Cary date pending, - Raleigh Aug 25th,7:00pm (contact for info)
  • Family Picnics -usually punctuate the beginning and end of the traditional school year at a local park
  • Homeschool information night Come on out to learn more about homeschooling in Raleigh. Bring a friend who is interested! No matter how many years you have homeschooled you have something to learn and something to share
  • Annual Mass with Bishop Burbidge Sept 19 2009  St Joseph's Raleigh
  • All Saints Celebration - The Saints always coming marching in each Nov 1. Whether your family dresses up for the "other" holiday or not, you will find parents and children alike, eager to dress up as their favorite Saint!
  • Christmas Craft Fair- We gather during Advent for some crafts to prepare us for the celebration of the birth of Our Savior. Your family can sponsor a craft table or just come to participate. We get into the spirit in the non-commercial way each year before we take a break from school to celebrate with our families. Small fee for crafts $
  • Stations of the Cross during Lent-  Fridays during lent
  • May Crowning - Honor our Holy Mother in the Tradition of the Church. Bring your May poles adorned with ribbons and flowers, 1st Communicants come dressed in special attire and lead us in the Rosary and Song. Picnic and celebration cake top of this annual event.

Academic Group Gatherings

  • Book Buddies open to all members- 2nd Friday of the Month 11am in a member's home in NW Raleigh (near Leesville exit off 540) Sept- May. Participants may recite a memorized poem, read a favorite poem, play an instrument(piano avail.) Share a book report, or a short story or poem you have written! Skits, songs, etc are also appropriate.  Bring a bag lunch and stay to eat at 12pm!
  • St. Gianna study group co-op (now enrolling)meets every Tuesday from 8 -1 beginning just after Labor Day.  Parents attend each day and share teaching and other duties.  Students (pre-k thru HS)rotate through four classes with a break in the middle for the rosary together with parents.  We end with a brown bag lunch and playtime from noon to 1:00.(latin, drama, science, history and writing-requires registration in July/Aug) 
  • Science Fair in Feb open to all members Raleigh and Cary
  • Spelling Bee in Spring open to all members Raleigh and Cary

  • Little Flowers virtues group for girls ages 5-12 (in progress Sept- May with more groups forming)
  • Blue Knights virtues group for boys ages 5-12 (forming)

  • Moms Support Group 2nd week of the month shared hosting
